Yon lot lendi!

It's another beautiful Monday here in Petionville, after a pretty rainy and quiet weekend. A couple of the girls at the Toddler House still weren't feeling too well, and we didn't go on any big trips. Still, it's pretty nice having the time to catch up on some reading, Stargate-watching and napping. Ahhh.

There have been quite a few families in here recently, either to actually pick up their new adopted child or to fill out some paperwork. It's a pretty amazing thing to see when the new parents first arrive, often they're crying, sometimes the confused kid starts crying, but after only a day or two you can tell that they've all started to bond, it's great. I hadn't realized how long and hard the process can be to adopt from Haiti (or from anywhere for that matter), it usually takes at least 2 years and sometimes more like 4. Since a few months ago, parents are also required to travel down to Haiti to see their child and sign some paperwork before they're allowed to adopt. It seems pretty bittersweet for almost everyone involved; the parents are sad to have to have to leave their child behind after only a couple of days, and the kid generally doesn't understand why these people who came to visit and spend so much time with him/her suddenly leave. But I'm sure the photos and videos they take will be priceless to them later on.

Here's some pics of the kids the past week; the little inflatable pool got used a lot!. It's been hot most days, and doens't rain as often anymore. The kids LOVE it, especially the bigger ones!
