100 kids + 20 adults in 10x20m space for 5 hours = ??

We had to spray the first and second floors for roaches yesterday, which meant that for 4 hours none of the kids could be in the nurseries. The solution: 100 kids on a balcony for most of the late morning/afternoon! It took until 11:15am for all the supplies to be brought up, the balcony to be properly set up and cleaned, and all the kids to be led in, and then 4 hours for the exterminators to work their magic (plus another hour or two for clean up/remobilizing the kids back downstairs). The balcony isn't all that big, probably only 10x20m, but everyone (all the kids, 10-15 nannies, 4 volunteers and a nurse) managed to fit just fine. Needless to say though, it did get a little noisy. And somewhat chaotic. Haha. I'm happy to report that screaming and crying were kept to a surprising minimum, as were biting, hair-pulling, and the trampling of small children. All in all a success!

Naptime from around 1 to 3 pm was of course especially wonderful that day. I went to go take a break on the hammock and ended up with all the non-nappers piling up on it too. Good ol' hammock!

At least the day went by really fast! It is nice being able to break up the routine a bit too. And now I can say that I fully understand why the nannies in the big nursery sometimes look a wee bit exhausted :)
